HOW IS EVERYONE holding up? Do we need hugs? Tea?

To celebrate the one year anniversary of marriage equality in Ireland, RTÉ2 aired a documentary charting the events leading up to the Yes vote.

The film features interviews with key figures from the Yes side, including Amnesty Ireland’s Colm O’Gorman, Moninne Griffith of Yes Equality, and Joey Kavanagh, who organised the now-iconic #HomeToVote campaign.

With scenes from the polling stations, the count, and Dublin Castle, let’s just say it was a tear-jerker. Viewers were sobbing from the start until the credits rolled an hour later:

Hats off to the filmmakers, Hugh and Anna Rodgers and Zlata Filipovic, for completely devastating most of the general population.

You can catch The Story Of Yes on the RTÉ Player later this evening – for now, you can watch some extra footage and stock up on the tissues.
